When he and his companion Pylade (Paul Groves) are shipwrecked on the island of Tauride, the king Thoas (Gordon Hawkins) demands they be sacrificed. At the center of the drama is Iphigénie, Oreste’s long-lost sister, sung by the extraordinary Susan Graham.
